Phillip C. Parrish, Candidate for Minnesota Governor 2026, Unveils Plan to Reform State Financial Planning
Minneapolis, MN – Phillip C. Parrish, retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and candidate for Minnesota Governor in 2026, today announced a bold plan to address the state’s financial planning failures caused by bureaucratic overreach and a lack of practical execution. Drawing on his extensive experience in military intelligence, education, and public administration, Parrish pledges to streamline government operations, enhance accountability, and prioritize results to restore Minnesota’s economic vitality and public trust.
Minnesota has faced significant challenges due to bloated bureaucracies and an overreliance on theoretical expertise, leading to costly missteps. Notable examples include the MNLARS project, a $100 million licensing system plagued by poor planning and execution, costing taxpayers millions in losses, and widespread fraud in programs like Feeding Our Future and Medical Assistance, where millions were misappropriated. Additionally, underfunding of public services has led to a 28% decline in state and local payroll relative to personal income since 1993, impacting education, infrastructure, and quality of life.
“Minnesotans deserve a government that works for them, not one mired in red tape and speculative planning,” said Parrish. “Our state has been held back by bureaucrats who prioritize process over progress and theorists who add layers of complexity instead of delivering results. As Governor, I will cut through this inefficiency, empower those who do the real work, and ensure every dollar is spent wisely.”
Parrish’s Plan to Fix Minnesota’s Financial Future
Rooted in principles of lean governance and accountability, Parrish’s plan includes:
• Streamlining Government Operations: Eliminate redundant bureaucratic layers to reduce waste and ensure agencies focus on citizen needs.
• Enhancing Accountability: Crack down on white-collar crime and fraud with robust oversight, leveraging Parrish’s expertise in exposing corruption, such as the MN daycare fraud.
• Prioritizing Results: Invest in education, infrastructure, and small businesses to drive revenue and growth, ensuring practical execution over speculative forecasts.
• Empowering Citizens: Advocate for tax relief and private healthcare solutions to put money back into Minnesotans’ pockets and reduce reliance on inefficient government systems.
• Supporting the Working Poor: Address poverty and homelessness with policies that create opportunities, strengthening the workforce and economy.
Parrish’s servant leadership approach, honed over 21 years in the U.S. Navy and as a teacher and principal, emphasizes transparency and action. “Minnesota can lead again in education, innovation, and economic development,” Parrish added. “But it starts with a government that values the people on the ground doing the work, not administrators hiding behind paperwork.”
