For Immediate Release: May 13, 2025
Fellow Minnesotans,
Today, I address you with a deep sense of urgency and a steadfast commitment to our state’s future. As your candidate for Governor in 2026, I have pledged to serve with integrity, to rebuild Minnesota on strong intellectual and moral foundations, and to cut through the wasteful bureaucracies and excessive regulations that have left our communities vulnerable. I call on every Minnesotan to remain vigilant, to see through the propaganda and ill intent of those who seek to exploit our challenges, and to stand united against agitators who would sow chaos for their own gain.
Our state faces a critical moment. The potential release of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd in 2020, looms as a “huge national decision” that could reignite the unrest we endured from 2020 to 2023—unrest that cost our state over $500 million in damages, saw businesses burned, and left communities fractured. Simultaneously, the mishandling of the German Adriano Llangari Inga case—a tragic drunk driving incident in August 2024 that killed an innocent mother and injured her daughter and sister—has exposed the failures of the Walz administration and Hennepin County officials to prioritize the safety of Minnesotans over political agendas.
The details of the Inga case are alarming. Inga, an undocumented immigrant, was released despite an ICE detainer, only facing charges nine months later on May 2, 2025, after a delay that the White House has called a failure to “protect constituents.” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s pattern of leniency, evident in her history of offering probation for serious crimes, and the county’s refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement reflect a broader agenda under Governor Tim Walz—one that places ideology above the care and concern of our citizens. Walz’s legislative record, including reforms that limit probation and legalize drug paraphernalia possession, has fostered an environment where crime and chaos can thrive, as seen in the administration’s struggles to manage unrest following the George Floyd and Daunte Wright killings.
Public frustration runs deep. Minnesotans have taken to platforms like X to voice their anger, with many accusing the administration of enabling dangerous individuals and questioning whether outside influences are driving these decisions. The nomination of Daniel Rosen as U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota on May 7, 2025, signals a federal response, with the Minnesota Republican Delegation noting that “fraud and crime run rampant under Governor Walz’s watch.” This federal-local tension could exacerbate divisions, especially if a national decision on Chauvin or immigration enforcement triggers unrest.
I am gravely concerned that those with ill intent—individuals and groups seeking to exploit our pain for their own gain—will seize this moment to inject chaos into our communities. These agitators, regardless of their affiliations, may use a Chauvin release to rally protests, framing it as a betrayal of justice to incite anger and division, potentially escalating demonstrations into violence as we saw in the aftermath of Floyd’s murder. They could also exploit the Inga case, using it to stoke fear and resentment, drawing parallels to broader systemic failures to fuel unrest. Both scenarios could be amplified by misinformation, such as unverified claims of external funding or exaggerated narratives about our electoral processes, which only deepen mistrust.
Let me be clear: while there are legitimate concerns about the integrity of our voter rolls, with evidence suggesting that some individuals may be registered in violation of federal law, we must address these issues through transparent, legal means—not through divisive rhetoric that agitators can exploit. Minnesota’s history of unrest, combined with a polarized public and a city budget preparing for potential disorder with $229 million allocated to the Minneapolis Police Department, makes us a prime target for those who thrive on chaos.
We cannot allow these individuals of ill intent to divide us. I call on every Minnesotan to remain vigilant, to see through the propaganda, and to reject the actions of those who would destabilize our communities for their own purposes. We must stand united against those who seek to turn our state into a battleground, whether through orchestrated protests, violence, or the spread of misinformation. Minnesota has suffered enough—it’s time to rebuild on a foundation of safety, accountability, and trust.
As your next Governor, I promise to listen to your concerns, to act decisively to restore order, and to ensure that our state’s institutions serve the people, not political agendas. Together, we can make Minnesota a place that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its citizens. Let us stand firm, reject the chaos, and show the nation that Minnesota will not be manipulated by those who seek to exploit our challenges.
Sincerely,
Phillip C. Parrish
Candidate for Governor of Minnesota 2026
