Statement from Phillip C. Parrish, Candidate for Governor of Minnesota 2026
June 11, 2025
For Immediate Release
Fellow Minnesotans,
As your candidate for Governor in 2026, I stand with the hardworking poor and middle-class families of our great state who are bearing the weight of an unsustainable and misguided government under Governor Tim Walz and the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL). Today, I sound the alarm: the intellectually and morally broken agendas of the current administration, coupled with rampant government overreach, threaten the very fabric of our communities.
First, let me offer heartfelt praise to the courageous Republicans in our legislature and the wise voters who elected them. Your steadfast efforts to curb the DFL’s unrealistic and disrespectful spending have been a beacon of hope. By forcing a bipartisan compromise on the recent $72 billion budget, you prevented further tax hikes and protected Minnesotans from the brink of fiscal collapse. Your dedication to fiscal responsibility and traditional values has exposed the DFL’s reckless depletion of our $19.5 billion surplus—a surplus that could have eased the burden on our families—and I commend you for standing firm against this tide of excess.

Yet, the danger persists. Governor Walz and the DFL have painted a rosy picture with their “beacon of democracy” rhetoric, but it’s nothing more than shiny lipstick on a pending disaster. Their agenda—marked by unsustainable spending, a dwindling $456 million surplus, and policies that prioritize divisive social experiments over the needs of our people—is intellectually and morally bankrupt. The overreach of government, from imposing $9-10 billion in tax increases to pushing controversial education policies that drive parents to remove their children from schools, has created a crisis. Hardworking Minnesotans, struggling under rising costs and stagnant wages, are leaving our state in droves, seeking relief from this oppressive governance.
This is not the Minnesota we know—a land of opportunity and resilience. The DFL’s approach has turned our state into a cautionary tale, where the poor and middle class are left to shoulder the burden of failed policies, while families flee and our economic future hangs by a thread. We must reject this path. As your Governor, I pledge to rebuild Minnesota on strong intellectual and moral foundations, streamline government, cut wasteful bureaucracies, and restore hope for every hardworking citizen.
The time to act is now. Join me in holding Tim Walz and the DFL accountable, and let us work together to reclaim our state from this unhealthy spiral. Together, we will ensure Minnesota thrives once more.
Sincerely,
Phillip C. Parrish
Candidate for Governor of Minnesota 2026
