As Phillip C. Parrish, LCDR USN (Ret.), a 21-year veteran of U.S. Navy Intelligence, counterterrorism and foreign policy expert, educator, investigator, and the original whistleblower on Minnesota’s massive daycare fraud scandal, I have dedicated my life to exposing systemic corruption and fighting for the hardworking people of our state. Today, as your candidate for Governor in 2026, I must address a crisis that strikes at the heart of our fiscal integrity and public trust: the grave mismanagement of employment compensation and benefits under the Walz-DFL administration.
The employment compensation issues plaguing Minnesota are not mere oversights—they represent a profound betrayal of taxpayers and state workers alike. Billions in fraud, from the $250 million Feeding Our Future scam to unchecked abuses in unemployment insurance and housing programs, have drained resources meant for legitimate benefits, leaving agencies unable to fulfill basic obligations. The recent IRS settlement, where state government failed to properly withhold taxes on ex-spouse health coverage—costing taxpayers $6.8 million—is just the tip of the iceberg. This incompetence has led to layoffs, budget shortfalls, and a staggering $6 billion projected deficit, all while vulnerable Minnesotans suffer cuts to essential services.
This chaos is directly tied to the delusional benefits packages pushed by the DFL elite—expansive mandates like Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) and Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST), sold as progressive triumphs but built on unsustainable fantasies. These “victory laps” ignore the reality: rampant abuse, skyrocketing costs, and long-term liabilities potentially reaching $77 billion if claims max out. Walz and his allies have deceived the public with promises of grandeur, prioritizing ideological control over practical governance, all to consolidate power under the guise of compassion.
The irony is staggering and disgraceful. While the government demands that private businesses and employers comply with these unfounded, burdensome mandates—increasing costs and stifling economic growth—state agencies themselves cannot even meet their liabilities under longstanding regulatory laws. They preach equity and worker protections from on high, yet their own house is in disarray, riddled with fraud, overpayments, and compliance failures that burden taxpayers and erode confidence in our institutions.
Minnesotans deserve better than this morally bankrupt cycle of deception and harm. As Governor, I will implement independent audits, digital verification systems, and joint task forces to root out fraud at its source. We’ll reform these delusional mandates to ensure they’re realistic and funded responsibly, prioritize merit-based compensation, and hold agencies accountable to the same standards they impose on others. Together, we’ll restore fiscal sanity, protect our workers, and rebuild a Minnesota where government serves the people—not exploits them.
