Yet the poll emails mimic official branding (MN map/tree logo, “MINNESOTA PREFERENCE POLL” header) to trick recipients into responding.
2. Fake Sender and Hidden Origins
“Mary” – no real SOS staffer by that name tied to elections or polling. Emails routed via SurveyMonkey relay (unique links per person, “don’t forward,” one-response “integrity” lock). This hides the true operator while borrowing state credibility. If headers show non-state IPs, it’s email forgery—a potential crime. If state-authorized, it’s abuse of public resources for partisan gain.
