By Phillip C. Parrish, Candidate for Governor of Minnesota
Folks, let’s cut the crap. Yesterday, February 23, 2026, in north Minneapolis, a 23-year-old thug named Eddie Darren Duncan—fresh out of Hennepin County Jail after posting bond on felony charges—allegedly stormed into a family home and gunned down his own 14-year-old cousin, Xavier Barnett, and 23-year-old brother, Akwane Davron Shaquelle Stewart. A grandmother and four terrified kids under 10 were in the house, dodging bullets by the grace of God. Duncan, paranoid and ranting on Facebook about being “god” and distrusting his family, then waved his illegal piece around outside an IHOP in Brooklyn Center until cops had no choice but to put him down in a shootout. No officers hurt, thank the Lord, but two innocent lives snuffed out in a senseless bloodbath.
This isn’t some random tragedy—it’s the rotten fruit of the DFL crime syndicate’s “catch-and-release” racket that’s turned Minnesota into a playground for armed felons. Duncan wasn’t some law-abiding hunter defending his home. This guy had a rap sheet that screams “lock him up and throw away the key.” Back in May 2025, he led Robbinsdale cops on a 90-mph chase, flipped his car, and got busted with a Glock rigged with an auto sear—a freaking machine gun, already illegal under federal and state law. Then, in January 2025, he was nailed for drug sales, possession, and another loaded gun with extended mags. What did the system do? A sweetheart plea deal: charges dropped or stayed, a slap of community service, and probation. No real time.
Fast-forward to February 15, 2026: Cops nab him on that outstanding warrant. A judge orders a mental competency eval because the guy’s clearly unraveling—posting his own warrant online like a deranged invitation. But nope, on February 23, at 12:41 p.m., Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s crew lets him walk on a $35,000 bond. Less than three hours later, he’s executing his family. Bloody Mary strikes again, folks. And who’s overseeing this clown show? Governor Tim Walz, the DFL puppet master who’s more obsessed with disarming you than caging monsters like Duncan.
While families mourn and Minneapolis bleeds, what does Walz do? He trots out his shiny new “gun violence prevention package” on February 24—literally the day after this slaughter—pushing for bans on “assault rifles,” high-capacity magazines, and binary triggers. He wants to slap a 10% tax on your handguns and 11% on rifles, shotguns, and ammo, like you’re the problem. Oh, and mandatory firearm insurance, safe storage mandates, reporting every lost or stolen gun, and even letting cities cook up their own patchwork of restrictions. Closing the “ghost gun” loophole? Fine, but Duncan didn’t need a 3D printer; he had an illegal machine gun switch that our laws already ban. Where’s the enforcement on that, Tim?
This is the idiocy in action: Walz and his DFL grifters treat hardened criminals like wayward puppies, releasing them to prey on the vulnerable, while scheming to turn God-fearing, law-abiding Minnesotans into criminals for owning a semi-auto rifle or a standard magazine. They ignore the real racketeering—nonprofit fraudsters and political cronies looting our state—while hammering farmers, fathers, and faithful folks who just want to protect their loved ones. It’s not about safety; it’s about control. They enforce nothing against felons like Duncan but dream up taxes and bans that’ll bankrupt your right to bear arms. Dark humor alert: If Walz had his way, that grandmother in the house might’ve been fined for improper storage while Duncan walked free with his switch. Makes you wonder if the DFL’s endgame is a state where only their enforcers and gangbangers are armed.
Enough. This isn’t the Minnesota we deserve—a place where evil runs rampant because the guilty get endless second chances, and the righteous get regulated into submission. As a retired Navy intel officer, farmer, father, and servant of my Catholic faith, I envision a restored constitutional republic here: streets safe for our kids, laws enforced without mercy on predators, and families empowered to defend themselves as God intended. No more coddling criminals in the name of “compassion.” We’ll dismantle the DFL machine, root out the corruption, and build a Minnesota where justice prevails, inspired by the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ—protecting the innocent, holding the wicked accountable.
It’s time to make the guilty sweat, Minnesota. Join me in ending this nightmare. Vote Parrish for Governor in 2026.
