A lot of good people are hurting right now. Not because they are weak. Because they still have eyes.
They watch a culture insist a baby in the womb is not a baby, while a man in a dress is a woman. They watch adults who used to say hormones make women “do crazy stuff” now demand those same hormones for children. They watch people deny that the body tells the truth about sex, then demand the body be cut to make the lie official. They hear it defended as compassion. They see it enforced as law. And something in them cries out: This cannot be.
That cry is not hate. It is the last remaining sanity.
Paul already mapped this. In Romans 1 he does not describe random chaos. He describes a judicial sequence.
First they suppress what is already plain about God (vv. 18–20).
Then they refuse to honor Him or give thanks; their thinking becomes futile and their hearts dark (v. 21).
Then they exchange the glory of God for images of their own making (vv. 22–23).
Then the three handovers:
• God gave them over to impurity of the body (v. 24).
• God gave them over to dishonorable passions (vv. 26–27).
• God gave them over to a depraved mind — an adokimos nous, a mind that has failed the test — so that they do what ought not to be done (v. 28).
The mind itself is now the casualty. It no longer distinguishes what is fitting from what is not. It invents new forms of evil and then approves of those who practice them (v. 32). That last part is the one that produces despair in everyone still paying attention. It is not only the act. It is the celebration of the act. It is the demand that you call the inversion “love.”
If you feel sick watching it, you are not the one who has lost your mind.
God did not invent this darkness. He permitted the trajectory people already chose when they decided the knowledge of God was not worth keeping. He is not the author of the lie. He is the one who finally stopped restraining it.
That is why the comfort is not “it will all blow over.” The comfort is older and harder and better.
You are not required to call darkness light in order to be merciful. You are required to refuse the lie and refuse despair.
Romans 12 is the next move after Romans 1. Paul does not leave the church staring at the wreckage. He says:
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
The same faculty that can be handed over to worthlessness can be made new. Not by rage. Not by mockery alone. By presenting your body as a living sacrifice (12:1) and letting God remake the mind that the world is trying to unmake.
That is the work now.
Hold the line without becoming what you oppose. Tell the truth about the body, about the child, about male and female, because creation still speaks even when the culture will not. Do it with a clean heart. Do it for the ones who are being used as props. Do it for the parents who are being told that love means consenting to the mutilation of their own children. Do it for the confused who still have a conscience left to reach.
And do it without letting the spectacle steal your peace. The depraved mind is loud. It is not final.
Christ is still King. The mind can still be renewed. The people who still see are not crazy. They are the ones who have not yet been given over.
Do not grow weary. Do not go numb. Do not call the inversion normal just because it is everywhere.
The ones crying out in despair are often the ones who still remember what a human being is.
That memory is a gift. Keep it. Pray it. Speak it. Live it.
The world is trying to make you forget. God is still in the business of making minds new.
