On the evening of 9 October 2026, at the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln-Reagan Dinner at the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel in Eagan, a coordinated disruption occurred while gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth was speaking. Individuals who had purchased tickets entered the event, seized the stage area, and displayed a “RepubliKKKan Party” banner. Outside the hotel, additional people in high-visibility gear were present. Eagan Police issued trespass orders. Charges remain under investigation.
Sunrise Movement Twin Cities and Climate Defiance Minnesota have claimed responsibility for the action. They stated they disrupted the fundraiser because they “refuse to give a moment’s peace to the people bankrolling racial violence.” This is not a spontaneous protest. It is a continuation of organized, affinity-group tactics previously used against hotels housing ICE personnel and other political targets.
Named Individuals Connected to This Operational Environment
The following individuals appear on a handwritten list of reported ticket purchasers or have publicly claimed involvement or been documented in the same network:
• Megan Page Newcomb — Confirmed Sunrise Movement Twin Cities organizer. Has spoken at and organized anti-ICE hotel noise demos (including Homewood Suites, Edina, December 2025). Coordinates with PSL Twin Cities, UNIDOS MN, and MIRAC.
• Emily Heather Phillips (Stevens Point, Wisconsin) — Age 33. Also known as “Red Witch.” Arrested 5 April 2026 outside Cities Church in St. Paul during an Easter protest; charges later dismissed for lack of probable cause. Documented participant in Twin Cities anti-ICE actions. Local reporting places her at the dinner.
• Derek Torstenson (X: @_DTorstenson) — Publicly posted that he crashed the GOP fundraiser. Moms Demand Action / BLM-aligned activist based in the Twin Cities area.

Open-source research on the majority of the handwritten list shows thin digital footprints, consistent with affinity-group low-visibility tactics. Only Megan Newcomb and Emily Heather Phillips currently have clear, verified public roles inside the organized networks active in the Twin Cities.
This Is Organized Activity
Sunrise Movement is a 501(c)(4) / 501(c)(3) structure headquartered in Washington, D.C., with local hubs. It has received millions from major foundations including Open Society Foundations, the Ford Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation. Local chapters coordinate with other groups (UNIDOS MN, Workers Defense Alliance / Black Cat Workers’ Collective, and related rapid-response networks). Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) maintains a Minnesota presence and has historically overlapped with these ecosystems. These entities operate through nonprofits, related LLCs, and interstate coordination. Much of the infrastructure is sustained by tax-advantaged donations and foundation grants that ultimately trace back to the public through the tax code and government-adjacent funding streams.
The 9 October action fits the documented pattern: ticketed infiltration for inside disruption, outside support, and pre-planned targeting of Republican political events. It is connected to the same interstate networks that have conducted hotel noise campaigns, church protests, and other coordinated actions across multiple states.
Warning to the Public
This is not organic dissent. It is organized activity conducted by networked groups that receive substantial funding through nonprofits and related structures, much of it enabled by the tax code. The same networks that track hotels, disrupt churches, and now infiltrate paid political dinners have been documented operating across state lines. Minnesota taxpayers and the public should understand that these operations are sustained by a web of LLCs, nonprofits, and NGOs with interstate reach.
Eagan Police and the Minnesota Republican Party have confirmed the infiltration and stage action. Further investigative review of the named individuals and the claiming organizations is warranted.
