A poem by Phillip C Parrish, 28 January 2021
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
My son/daughter
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
If you look at me with admiration
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
If you see my scars as badges of honor
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
If you see my tears as rivers of love and passion
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
If you see my virtue without my faults
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
If you see my success without my failures
There is no shortcut to the man I am today
My son/daughter, there was a time I prayed you would never feel or see the road of life and death I traveled. Now I see that you must because there is no shortcut to the man/woman you will become. My son/daughter, our Father in Heaven, his son Jesus, your brother, and the Holy Spirit are always with you. Listen closely, watch intently, and feel his presence always.
