By Phillip C. Parrish, Candidate for Governor of Minnesota, 2026
As your candidate for Governor of Minnesota in 2026, I stand firm in my commitment to defend our constitutional republic against deliberate erosion. This is not about left versus right—it’s about right versus wrong. The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (MNDFL) has not only misused the term “democracy” to obscure our republican foundations but is actively aligning with Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) principles, a move that threatens individual liberties with premeditated intent. Building on my previous article, The Democracy Myth: Reclaiming America’s Constitutional Republic, where I detailed the historical and systemic misuse of these terms, I now focus on how this plays out in Minnesota. The MNDFL’s ideological shift, evidenced by internal party documents and campaign strategies, has ushered in fiscal decline, social division, and governance failures—outcomes that appear designed to justify further control, paving the way for the very elitist “king ruling class” they claim to oppose. As governor, I will protect individual rights against mob rule and fabricated majorities, ensuring our state upholds republican principles for all Minnesotans, regardless of political affiliation.
The MNDFL’s Calculated Drift Toward Democratic Socialism
The MNDFL’s ties to the DSA are documented and strategic, reflecting an intentional move to reshape governance. While officially part of the national Democratic Party, the MNDFL has embraced DSA-endorsed candidates and policies, especially in Minneapolis. The Twin Cities DSA chapter has outlined plans in internal documents to integrate socialists into the DFL, forming a Democratic Socialist Caucus to advance socialist values within party structures. Candidates like State Sen. Omar Fateh have aligned with DSA goals in 2024-2025 campaigns, prioritizing collective mandates over individual rights.
This alignment is not accidental but a deliberate strategy to undermine the republic’s safeguards, as critics on platforms like X argue, aiming to centralize power under a socialist framework. The MNDFL’s invocation of “democracy” furthers this, labeling opposition as threats to progress to stifle debate, often backed by big-money donors and media alliances. A stark example is the 2025 Minneapolis DFL mailer falsely endorsing Sen. Fateh, a deceptive tactic under investigation that manipulated voter perceptions. Such actions suggest an orchestrated effort to sow discord, justifying authoritarian measures that mirror the tyrannical elite rule the party ostensibly fights.
Ushering in Misery to Justify Tyranny: Harm to Minorities and Society
Under MNDFL control, Minnesota has faced declines that seem engineered to perpetuate their agenda. From a $17 billion surplus in 2023, their policies ballooned spending by 40%, projecting a $3.5 billion deficit by 2028-2029 ($5.1 billion inflation-adjusted), fueled by tax increases and expansive programs. The Feeding Our Future scandal, a $250 million fraud linked to political ties, diverted aid from vulnerable minorities, betraying the communities the party claims to champion.
Policies like the “emerging farmers” grant program, deemed discriminatory in a 2024 lawsuit, have alienated groups under the guise of equity. The 2025 rollback of MinnesotaCare for undocumented immigrants contradicts prior expansions, harming low-income minorities. Internal hypocrisies, such as the $110,000 racial discrimination settlement for former staffer Carly Melin and a 2025 lawsuit by candidate Brenda Short alleging bias, underscore this. Backed by censorship and propaganda, these failures create a cycle of misery, propping up a narrative for more intervention—ultimately entrenching an elite ruling class.
My Platform: Right vs. Wrong Reforms to Protect the Republic
This fight transcends partisanship; it’s about right versus wrong. As governor, I will implement reforms without undue mercy for those undermining our republic, focusing on individual rights for all.
Education Reform for Civic Truth
• Require civics curricula emphasizing our constitutional republic, drawing from my prior article, to teach against DSA-influenced propaganda and historical socialist pitfalls in Minnesota.
• Expand equity assessments to protect all individuals, eliminating discriminatory preferences.
• Ban institutional censorship, promoting free speech to counter manipulated narratives.
Institutional Safeguards Against Manipulation
• Mandate audits of programs like Feeding Our Future, with penalties for exploitation.
• Enforce donor transparency and spending caps to dismantle big-money influences.
• Strengthen election integrity to prevent deceptive tactics, preserving republican checks.
These steps will reverse the MNDFL’s harm, restoring a republic where right prevails over wrong. Join me—visit my campaigni site for more.
